Jesus knew that his hour had come to depart from this world and go to the Father. Having loved his own who were in the world, he loved them to the end. - John 13:1b
The past few weeks in our lectionary readings in worship, we’ve been dwelling in the section of the Gospel of John between the 13th and the 17th chapters. As I have shared in worship, this is known as Jesus‘s Farewell Discourse. I love this section of scripture and this Gospel because it is the time in Jesus’ life and the disciples’ lives, where Jesus seems to share some of the most important things for his disciples then (and for all time) to remember
